  • Overview

Medical errors continue to plague the medical community, resulting in over 120,000 hospitalizations annually and a cost of over $42 billion in the United States alone.  At the same time, healthcare practitioners are reporting record levels of burnout.  This session seeks to identify the inherent connecting parameters between medication safety and practitioner well-being.  The tool of meditation is introduced as a way to reduce stress and errors in the pharmacy.  This tool is examined within the traditional context of effective continuous quality improvement and root-cause analysis practices.  This session has been approved by the state of Florida as a ‘medication errors’ offering.
